This library was certainly large but then again, it was a city library and not a small town one. So there was obviously gonna be a size difference in size. It was a nice thing, it gave people space to move around and to look at book, but it also allowed for more options to choose from in terms of books. Even though he was the librarian, he liked to help out further and there was often a time when he was away from his desk putting books away that had already been checked in. And since no one else seemed to be around at the moment, he saw no harm in putting them away himself.
This city or town was different than his home one, but he was willing to try and live here. Though...he did have his doubts that it would work. Unaware of what everyone else was in the town and that it most likely wouldn't be a shocker to anyone of what he was. He was still afraid. And he had good reason to be, just because no one had been harmed before didn't mean that would always be the case.
He wasn't too far away from his desk, he was still in plain sight to anyone who walked in. There was plenty of light from both light bulbs and the sunlight that entered through the windows. That showed that it was so far a nice day, though the weather could always make a sudden change. It's happened before.

Nova opened the door to the library with a few books in her hands. She had just finished them as she needed to for her class and had decided to bring them back early before she got busy and forgot she had them. I wonder why Mrs. Hayes assigned all these books, some don't even seem like they'd be part of the curricular. She thought as she looked at the cover(1, 2, 3! Teaching Preschoolers to Count!) of the top book and made her way to an empty table to set the books down for a moment to make sure there was a librarian around to check them in; and sure enough there was! He looked new but she didn't really know cause she only came into the library even now and then to get a book for school and that was it.
She grabbed a slip from the top book that said the books she checked out and went to approach him. She cleared her throat so not to scare him, "Hi there, um, I'm here to turn in my books." She smiled and held out her slip. words;; 189 words 934 characters outfit;; Thismood;; Happymusic;; This

Hearing the clearing of a throat, Victor turned round to see her. He hadn't seen her before but then again, he didn't know anyone here really.
"Hi and sure." Victor said, he took the slip from her and looked at it. "Come over to the desk, please."
Victor headed over to the desk and started to type into the computer. Bringing up the number of books and what ones Nova checked out. It looked like she had them all here with her from what she had in her arms.
"You can just set them down here." Victor told Nova with a smile. "I'm Victor, I've just moved here. And you?"
He was just trying to make converse, no harm in that no?

She followed him to the desk and set the books down where he said to. After she had set them down, she leaned against the lip of the desk. "I'm Nova, its nice to meet you Victor." She smiled back. "I've been here all my life, and couldn't really think of living anywhere else. Too many cities and towns full of people who think ill of others and treat others wrongly. But seems like lately that problem is starting to infect the people here." She sighed as she stared at her thumbs as she twiddled them for a moment. "But anyways, where'd you come from? If you don't mind me asking, that is." She said with a smile and looked up to Victor. Sure people moved here all the time, but she never got the chance to meet and talk with them due to her always being busy with school.

Picking one of the books, he looked at the bar code and typed it into the computer. The computer would send the bar code into the returned section when he clicked enter but he could put in multiple codes in and it would still do that. Setting the book down once he had the code in all the way, he reached for the second one.
"It's nice to meet you too." Victor replied with a smile.
He was glad that so far things were going good since he moved here. Making friends was a hard thing for him since he never really had them before. Sure he was willing but no one could really stand him back home. Her words about a problem infecting people.
"I'm from a very small town in Missouri, nowhere special or anything." Victor answered. "What problem are you talking about? If it's okay with me asking."

She watched him scan the books, and when he asked about the problem, she pursed her lips a little as she thought of where to start. "Well, I noticed it arise when I was twelve when that national thing when a few groups of people, each with unique gifts came out of the shadows, so to speak. Well after that, it seems like people have turned more against one another, saying bad things about the people that came out. Eriston was one of the first of the many that opened its arms for those sorts of people so that they could seek refuge from people that spoke nasty or tried hurting them, but as of lately it seems like the thing that the people with the gifts were trying to escape from is here turning everyone against each other." She explained solemnly as she felt ashamed that her hometown may become like the rest of the world.

People with...unique gifts? Victor may still be new to his current state in life due to the attack he suffered back home but he had a feeling on what this unique thing was about. Nova's response just gave him further reason to try and keep what he was a secret. Just try to pass himself off as a normal human.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Victor answered. "People are normally different from each other in many ways, there really shouldn't be a reason to be against each other. It really all comes down to how a person acts really."
And I just need to make sure to not get sighted at any time like it. Victor thought in his head as he scanned the last book.
"Well, you're good to go and get any new books if you want." Victor told Nova.

She nodded as he spoke; and after he was done scanning her books and he gave her the clear to go get new books if she wanted, she went to go find some new books to check out. She started in the young adult sections grabbing Forevermore, a book she loved to read but could never find online to buy; and a couple of Anne Rice books, smiling a little at the redundancy in them in this day and age, before continuing looking for more books.
After she had gotten the books she had wanted, she made her way to the desk again. She set the books down and then grabbed a small piece of paper out of a little cubby meant for scrap paper to be used as bookmarks. She jotted down her number and put the paper next to the stack. She looked up and smiled “Here's the ones that I want to check out. Also I think that you're a nice guy, so there’s my number if you ever want to hang out or get coffee when you're not working.”
